Dear Friends and Family, As many of you know, we lost our nephew, Ian Besner, to Leukemia nine years ago. Ian was diagnosed with T-Cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) in January 2006, one week before his 11th birthday and he passed away on May 31. Ian was an extraordinary boy who shared his joy and love of life with everyone who met him.
To cope with the grief of losing their oldest child, Lynn's sister and brother-in-law, Beth and Brad Besner, founded the I Care I Cure Childhood Cancer Foundation. The organization supports the development of and raises public awareness about cutting-edge, targeted therapies for childhood cancer so that the treatment of childhood cancer will be gentler and more tolerable. The Foundation wants to challenge the public’s acceptance that treatment for childhood cancer requires painful and embarrassing side-effects and life-long health disabilities, isolation from friends and family, and short and long-term psychological devastation. By educating the public about scientific breakthroughs in genetic childhood cancer research that are within reach but seriously underfunded, we can quickly raise money to fund research grants and provide seed money to researchers for new studies. In November 2009, Glenn decided to get on his bike to pedal for an\\this important cause. It seemed that he could combine his love of cycling with the worthwhile challenge of raising funds for I Care I Cure. I became the SAG driver and we were off! This fall, he will pedal from New Orleans, Louisiana to St. Augustine, FL from November 8-November 17. Uncle Jim Beaty will join Glenn for part of the journey! The route will take us from New Orleans through Biloxi, MS; Gulf Shores, AL, Seaside, FL; Port St. Joe FL, Crowfordville FL, Mayo FL, Gainesville FL and end in St.Augustine,FL. If you find yourself near any of these towns, ride with Glenn and Jim or lunch with Aunt Lynn and Aunt Laurie!
If you can't join us, consider making a tax deductible donation.
This year we have our own fundraising site to make this an easier process than in the past:
If you prefer, you may send a check made out to I Care I Cure Childhood Cancer Foundation to us at:
2950 Mt. Wilkinson Parkway, #511, Atlanta, GA 30339
